One of Vision Forum's longest running partners, lovely Verkstad is getting much deserved support from the Swedish Arts Council. Verkstad in Norrköping has been running an astounding program and remains one of the Nordic region's most interesting alternative spaces. Congratulations!!!!

See-Saw at Verkstad: Rum för konst in Norrköping

Kungl. Konsthögskolan, MA1 visits Verkstad: Rum för konstgroup by making an exhibition with young artists. The exhibition contains different combinations of installation, photography, video, sound, sculpture and performance. This gives a reflection of the breadth and variety of the contemporary scene in Sweden. The title See-Saw has been chosen to reflect on the diverse affective processes in which the stages of mood swings are reflected in the exhibition's character.

At Verkstad: Ida Pettersson - LAKE VOSTOK

At Verkstad in Norrköping:

An exhibition by Ida Pettersson: LAKE VOSTOK - Earth, an angel, a rock of ruby, a huge bull, Bahamut, water, darkness.


“Lake Vostok lies deep below the surface, in an eternal darkness it has remained hidden for millions of years. But now the seal has been broken. What's below the surface or on the other side of the sea bed?”

In a solo exhibition at Verkstad artist Ida Pettersson a series of drawings, gouaches and a video work. The project centres around the mysterious place Lake Vostok, a freshwater lake under a glacier in Antarctica located under the Russian research station Vostok. The artist takes on the various statements, both scientific and mythical, that circulate about the lake.

The Exhibition is open to the public March 9 – April 14, Private View Saturday March 9, 12-17.

OPEN CALL FOR VIDEO ART!

Verkstad in Norrköping is looking for video art to be presented at the global art phenomenon BYOB – Bring Your Own Beamer, which will be held at Verkstad 8th of February 2013. The idea is simple: bring your video, a media player and a projector and we will fix a wonderful evening of art, projections and music together.

BYOB is a series of one-night-exhibitions curated by different people around the world. The pieces could be long, short, with or without sound, with moving or non moving images as long as you are willing to share the space with other pieces!

BYOB is a way of making a huge show with zero budget. It is also an exploration of the medium of projection. BYOB is a celebration of the new world we live in and a glimpse of what computing could look like in the future. Today the internet is confined to screens. Tomorrow information will surround us, composing our surfaces, defining our spaces, enmeshing itself with the ether. A moving image is never an object, and when it is coupled with the increased flexibility of portable projection, the realm of experience quickly expands.


BYOB is an idea by Rafaël Rozendaal. The first edition of BYOB was initiated by Anne de Vries and Rafael Rozendaal in Berlin. 
BYOB is an acronym for “Bring Your Own Beamer”. In Europe projectors are often referred to as “beamers”.
